Toss: CBCC elected to bat

As is sometimes the way at this time of year, we had quite a few players unavailable as only 4 players from the previous game were available for this one. Thanks to a massive recruitment drive by Uma we still managed to turn a team out with what has to be the youngest Chesham Bois team ever.

Having won the toss Chesham Bois elected to bat. It was a bad start as Rajiv departed early edging a lifting delivery behind. Alex dug in and was joined by Vaibhav and together they pushed the score along. Vaibhav fell for a well crafted 12 and was soon followed by Alex. This bought Uma to the crease with Arjun as his partner. Arjun was looking in good nick until he was caught at mid on for 2, Jamien sadly only lasted one ball. Uma was carefully marshalling the tail as Abhi (9), Rudy (3) and Saad (10) kept him company. Uma was out to one which kept low for 52 but he had helped the score into 3 figures, Jacob was the last wicket to fall for 5 as we reached a respectable 132.

In reply, The Lee lost one of their openers to Arjun for a duck as he put in a great opening spell (4-0-1-11). Jacob (3-0-16-0), Saad (2-0-19-0) bowled tidily before Rajiv (4-1-18-0) and Uma (3-0-20-0) came on in the search for wickets that we badly needed by that point. Rajiv added a runout to his wicket before Abhi and Rudy had an over each at the end as The Lee comfortably passed our total.

We lost but it was a good game against The Lee who are a great bunch and hopefully we’ll see more of the youth team in our upcoming games.
